Mom visits St Louis

No post yesterday because my mom got into town to celebrate her birthday in The Lou.  62 years young.  I made her a hardback book on shutterfly of our cruise and she really liked it.  Terry was sweet and brought her home a cake last night.  He's such a great boyfriend.

We went all over St. Louis yesterday.  I took the day off from work (really sick...cough cough...can't make it in) and we headed downtown.  We were trying to go to zoo, but it was swamped with people.  I was not expecting that on a Wednesday it would be such a madhouse.  Since the closest parking spot was over a mile away from the zoo entrance, we decided instead to go have lunch at Blueberry Hill, which was a lot of fun.
Then we headed over to the Cathedral Basilica, which she thought was incredible.
Next, we went to the Anheuser-Busch Plant and did the free tour, getting to see the Clydesdales and the brewing and processing facility.

Finally, we went to Ted Drewe's for their frozen custard, which is a staple of St. Louis.  It was sinful how delicious it was!!

We went back home and had a braised brisket that we had cooking in the crock pot and let me just say, it was DELICIOUS!!! If you want the recipe, I will be happy to send it to you, it really was that good!  We had chocolate birthday cake and ice cream, and then watched the cardinals baseball game on tv.  All in all, it was a great day.
